Week one: choose the job
Choose one service with a clear request path. It could be a catering inquiry, an equipment availability question or a quote request. Write down what success means to the customer and to the staff member receiving it. Avoid starting with every service at once.
Gather the public information that already explains that service. Ask the owner to resolve contradictions and identify unknowns. The output should be a short approved fact set, not a large document that nobody wants to maintain.
Week two: make the information usable
Improve the relevant page with clear descriptions, visible policies and direct links to the next step. Keep important information in readable text. Add appropriate structured information only when it matches what the page actually says.
Google’s AI search guidance emphasizes familiar foundations, including accessible text, internal links and matching structured data. That is a useful reminder to fix the basics before treating an AI-specific file as the entire project. Test whichever discovery aids you add with the tools you intend to support.
Week three: connect one approved action
Build or refine the inquiry flow. Define the required fields, customer approval, validation and receipt. Use synthetic data to verify the full path to the business’s system. Keep staff confirmation explicit wherever availability or price still requires judgment.
Week four: review and repeat
Run a small question set against the current and improved information. Inspect failures with the owner, correct the underlying facts and retest. Separately measure real customer outcomes if the business has agreed to a live pilot.
At the end of the month, decide whether to expand, improve the first action or pause. A useful result might be a more complete inquiry and fewer clarification messages; it need not be a dramatic traffic claim. Our goal is to give small businesses a way to learn from agent-driven customer journeys at a scale they can understand and control.
